I am a doctoral candidate in the Department of Philosophy at Bilkent University dissertating under the supervision of Sandrine Berges. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Bilkent. My area of interest is the History of Philosophy, particularly 17th and 18th-century Early Modern Philosophy and animal ethics. I am currently working on animal ethics in early modern, ancient, and contemporary areas. I also have a particular interest in the horror genre. During my Master's, I worked on the paradox of horror and tied the possible reason behind the horror lovers' enjoyment of the horror genre to the notion of sympathy. Thus, I exclusively focused on David Hume's, Adam Smith's, and Sophie de Grouchy's arguments on the idea of sympathy by applying them to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
When I am not doing philosophy, I do tarot reading and have started collecting interesting tarot decks. Since I am a huge fan of the horror genre, I like to watch horror movies, generally even those cringe Turkish haunted horror movies :) (Yet, I should do justice, some of them are pretty good.). I am also a passionate walker, spending most of my time walking up to at least 25.000 to 30.000 steps a day. You might find some interesting and lovely photos I take throughout my walking journey. I have three cats named Jüpi (short for Jüpiter), Piti, and Melek.
